Stamp Boxes and Related Items Related Items 1989 London, a superb 18ct. gold mounted, hand painted enamel reproduction of a Cape of Good Hope De La Rue 1/- pale emerald green postage stamp brooch by Garrard The Crown Jewellers, presented in a triangular green leather case with gold tooling cape of good hope on the lid, opening to a cream velvet and white silk lined interior, the reverse of the brooch inscribed "garrard london", a unique specially commissioned piece of the highest quality. Photo Estimate £ 2,000-3,000Note: A photocopy of an original letter from Garrards regarding this piece is included, briefly reading, Further to our discussions i have pleasure in enclosing our proposals for a facsimile brooch of the Cape of Good Hope One Shilling postage stamp. The brooch will consist of 18 carat yellow gold , 1.5mm. thick and the enamelled area would be recessed into this thickness so that the image and border are flush. The plate would be mounted on a gallery as per illustration to give this additional strength since we will not be counter enamelling the reverse of the brooch. The image on the stamp will be painted to the highest degree of detail.
