Auction: 6021 - Great Britain Stamps & Covers
Lot: 296
x Great Britain Postal History Ireland 1908 (16 Mar.) envelope to San Francisco, bearing 1902-10 1/2d., 1d. (2) and tete-beche pair of the Sinn Fein ´harp-player´ propaganda label (broad crown), tied by Dublin c.d.s´s; some minor cover faults though still fine and very attractive. This is thought to be the only known example of a tete-beche pair postally cancelled on cover (the use of such labels on the front of a letter were forbidden by the Post Office from 1908 onwards), also two of the K.E.VII adhesives have been affixed upside-down (a traditional way of showing disrespect to the British state) - a very rare combination.
