St Patrick holding shamrock and crozier, preaching to congregation, city of Dublin arms to right (Q.49, but the illustrations transposed with those of Q.50; S.6568 - same dies as the illustration), fine, the brass splash on the crown clear, rare Estimate £ 1,000-1,200Recent research by Dr Brian Danforth, published in The Colonial Newsletter for December 2002, has identified the issuer of the ´St Patrick´ coinage, the probable period of its issue as c.1667-9, and the technology for it as being by Peter Blondeau. The coinage was current in the Isle of Man until an Act of the Tynwald forbade this after 1 January 1680. At least 10,000 examples of the halfpenny were taken to America by Mark Newbie in 1681, and made current the following year in the Province of West Jersey
