China 1897 New Currency Surcharges Large Figures, Narrow Setting, Third Print 1897 (20 July) envelope addressed to Shanghai (soiled) bearing 2c. on 2ca. tied by pa-kua with a fine strike of Newchwang Dollar chop at left and Shanghai Dollar chop on reverse. An important cover bearing such a good strike of the Newchwang Dollar chop, this is the earliest recorded date of this scarce dater (the previous earliest date recorded date being September 1897).
