A Victorian Officer´s Helmet-Plate of the Worcestershire Regiment A QVC plate, of the 1894-1901 pattern (as KK242), the central device on a velvet ground (velvet faded, gilt rubbed, the backing-plate with holes for an earlier centre) See illustration Estimate £ 150-200The holes in the backing plate suggest that it may have previously borne a pre-1881 regimental number and/or badges of the Worcestershire Regiment of the 1881-85 and 1885-91 patterns (see KK Page 126). The relatively shallow ground within the Garter, indicating that it was not originally intended to contain a velvet backing, would appear to support this theory.
