Fletcher 44th Regt), contemporarily engraved in medium serif capitals, with silver riband buckle; Turkey, Order of the Medjidieh, Fifth Class breast Badge, gold, silver and enamel, with silver riband buckle; Sardinia, Al Valore Militare, reverse officially engraved ´Capt. William Fletcher, 44th Regt´; Turkish Crimea, British die, pierced as issued, with ring, together with a cloth riband bar (5) Estimate £ 1,400-1,600 Major William Fletcher entered the 44th Regiment as Ensign 1846; Lieutenant 1851; embarked at Varna with his Regiment in S.S. Tynemouth 29.8.1854 and served in the Crimea; was present at the attack and occupation of the cemetery 18.6.1855 and also at the fall of Sebastopol 9.9.1855 where he commanded the 2nd Company of the 1st Battalion of his Regiment (Brevet of Major 1856; Order of the Medjidieh and Sardinian Medal for Valour (Al Valore Militare)); Major Fletcher retired 6.6.1856
