Costigan. 56th Regt), with Crimea type swivel suspension, Crimea awards good fine, M.S.M. nearly very fine (3) Estimate £ 450-500 Colour Sergeant Robert Costigan, born Kilmore, County Armagh, Ireland, attested for the 56th Regiment 12.4.1842 aged 18 years; promoted Corporal the following year, Sergeant in 1846, and Colour Sergeant 1.4.1852; granted the L.S.G.C. 1860 and discharged 1863 after 21 years service; M.S.M. awarded 1869, L.S.G.C. relinquished; served on the permanent staff of the Essex Rifles Militia; Colour Sergeant Costigan died 15.3.1895.
