Walter Lacy.56th Regt), contemporarily engraved in large serif capitals; Turkish Crimea, British die, with contemporary claw and silver swivel bar suspension, unnamed, good very fine (2) Estimate £ 280-320 Lieutenant General Richard Walter Lacy entered the 84th Regiment as Ensign 1832 and transferred to the 56th Regiment in 1837; advanced to Major, July 1855 and disembarked in the Crimea with his Regiment 25.8.1855; was present at the siege of Sebastopol and took part in the final assault; Lieutenant Colonel, May 1856; Colonel, May 1861 and rose to Lieutenant General 29.9.1878; commanded the 56th from May 1856-69.
