India, Madras Presidency, Rupee, 12.07g., Arcot, AH118- (issue of 1807), fixed regnal year 6, overstruck on a 2-Reales of Carlos III of Spain (under-type Cayon, 22), rev. normal Persian legend for type, except date appears to have the figure "7" inverted, olos iii around top right quadrant, edge, grained right (Pr. 247), obverse has had evidence of original under-type scratched out in area of mint name, otherwise very fine, an unusual coin that provides a unique insight into the operation of the Arcot mint in its early days Estimate £ 100-120
