India, East India Company, Bengal Presidency, Benares, Quarter Rupee, 2.84g., AH1229 (1815 issue), regnal year 17/49, with flower below left and mint below, rev. AH year, sikkah Shah Alam padshah, mint marks: fish and star, edge grained right (Pr.-), toned, extremely fine, uncatalogued and very rare Estimate £ 700-850 Pridmore hints at the existance of this denomination (Part 4, vol.1, p.253) and illustrates an unfinished proof coin (Pr.293) that has a design that is almost identical, but with edges grained left. It is believed that a few specimens have since been discovered and are in private collections.
