Baronet's Badge, 22ct. gold and enamel (Hallmarks for London, 1929), reverse inscribed, 'Leigh of Newcastle-upon-Tyne', extremely fine, in case of issue Sold with recipient's Grant of Arms document (dated 1920), water stained, complete with cased seals, and Baronet's Warrant and wax seal, both in damaged cases of issue (3) Estimate £ 600-800 Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Alexander Leigh, educated at Harrow and Brasenose College, Oxford. Captain in the Northumberland Hussars Yeomanry, Commandant of the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 9th Battalions Durham County Volunteer Corps, 1917-20; earlier in the Great War he served as Deputy Assistant Quarter Master General in Gallipoli at Suvla Bay, was awarded the Military Cross and was Mentioned in Despatches; created Baronet, 1919; High Sheriff of Northumberland 1923-24; Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Alexander Leigh died 1956.
