Central American Republic. 2 Escudos, 1835 CR F. San José, Costa Rica. Mint error: Flip over double strike. Radiant sunface over five mountain peaks, rev. Ceiba tree. Fr.3, KM 15. On a normal strike of this coin the obverse legend is REPUBLICA DEL CENTRO DE AMERICA, while the reverse legend is LIBRE CRESCA FECUNDO ("Grow free and fruitful"). On this remarkable error here, the flipover double strike has resulted in the combining of both the obverse and reverse legends in a blundered way to essentially read "LIBRE CRESCA AMERICA" ("Grow free America").

As standards at the Central American Republic mints were largely quite strict; error coins in silver are rare, while error coins in gold are extremely rare. NGC Mint Error AU 58. One of the finest examples of this date and mint and as an error, especially in this grade, likely unique.
