Accompanied by the Governor General's autograph on a dinner menu from the time of his June 1948 State Visit to Brazil. On the cover of the June 11, 1948 Palácio do Catete Dinner menu, Alexander signs above in large hand in blue "Alexander of Tunis". Mount marks on the blank back page. Very Fine.
Harold Alexander, 1st Earl Alexander of Tunis (1891-1969) was a senior and highly decorated British Army officer who served in both World Wars. At the end of his military career, he served as the 17th Governor General of Canada (1946-1952) and as a Member of the House of Lords, Lord Temporal (1946-1969). After his time as Governor General, Alexander succeeded Winston Churchill as British Minister of Defense (1952-1954) and later served as Lord Lieutenant of Greater London (1965-1966). (2)
