Emperor Maximilian I (1459-1519) and his third wife Bianca Maria Sforza (1472-1510). Medal, Hall ca. 1506. Cast Bronze, 39.1mm. Conjoined busts right, rev. The Madonna and Child encircled by Cherubim. Hill 245, Katalog Ausstellung Maximilian I, Vienna (1959), 653; Habich 49, 14. Commissioned by the Emperor Maximilian from Cavalli who he had summoned to Hall in Tyrol, this medal served as the model for the Schauguldiner coin minted later that year. Extremely rare. Looped at 12:00. Natural yellow-brown patina. Good Very Fine. A similar (without loop) example in the Heidelberger Munzhandlung Herbert Grun Auction, November 12-14, 2021 realized 1200 Euro.
