Great Britain. Gordon Highlanders Officer's Dirk and Skean Dhu. Ca. 1880's. By Meyer & Mortimer, Conduit St., London W. Black carved wood hilt with silver studs, pommel cap of the dirk, Skean Dhu, fork and knife have an amber rose Cairngorm stone with high-relief, silver floral design trim. The 11 ¾" etched, saw-backed blade has two fullers; 20 battle honors - ECMONT-OF-ZEE …AFGHANISTAN 1878-1880, and maker's name on the front; regimental name, "EGYPT" on back. Silver mounts on the leather scabbard, trim with high-relief St. Andrew's Cross with regimental name, "EGYPT" etc. Pommel cap and throat of the Skean Dhu sheath somewhat loose. Excellent Condition.
