Millais, J.E. (1829-1896). English painter and illustrator. One of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Member of the Royal Academy of Art. ALS, 8vo. 2 Palace Gate, Kensington. April 7, 1884. Millais declines an invitation. Also included is an original cabinet photograph of the artist by the London Stereoscopic & Photographic Company of 110 & 108 Regent Street, Cheapside, no date. Millais is shown, from his left, in a seated half-length portrait. Mounted to the photographer's printed card mount. In very good condition. Millais illustrated several of Trollope's novels, including Orley Farm, Framley Parsonage, The Small House at Allington, Rachel Ray, and Phineas Finn.
