A Bond Certificate for $10, no.69500, exchangeable for a $10 Gold Bond upon International Recognition of the Republic of Ireland, black printing within green border, issued to 'Ellen Morrissey', dated 21st January 1920, and signed in facsimile by Sean Doonan as Registrar and Eamon de Valera as President, very fine

Miss Ellen Morrissey was apparently a member of Cumann na mBan, the Irish republican women's paramilitary organisation.

This Republic of Ireland $10 Bond Certificate, forming part of the First National Loan of the Republic of Ireland, was exchangeable one month after international recognition of the Republic for a $10 Gold Bond, which would carry interest at 5% per annum six months after the freeing of the Republic of Ireland from Britain's military control, and to be redeemable within one year.
