Davis Land Co. (MS), $10 shares, Jackson 18[90], #598, vignettes of an elderly Jefferson Davis at left and his wife right, ornate floral border, printed by R & T A Ennis, black, uncancelled, GVF.

Incorporated in Mississippi the company had obvious links with Confederate President Jefferson Davis but we are unable to ascertain whether there was any financial involvement or he just lent his name to this enterprise. The Davis's were living at Beauvoir near Biloxi in the 1880's but had died by 1889. Perhaps the company was formed after his death to deal with the 600 plus acresof land around the house?
