Auction: 313 - Numismatic Collector's Series - Ft. Worth, TX
Lot: 993
1723 Rosa Americana 2 Pence. Fine. W-1334. A well circulated and classic colonial type produced by William Wood for circulation in the American colonies. Still under the arm of Great Britain, the obverse of this type shows a rightward facing laureate head of George, while the reverse shows a crowned American rose from which the type derives its name. About as wholesome as one could expect for the grade with heavy central detail that fades towards the edges and obscures portions of the legends. A few contact marks are noted, but blend into smooth brown surfaces.
