Charles I, Shrewsbury mint, Halfpound, 60.03g., 1642, m.m. nine/four pellets, king crowned and in armour holding sword upright, on horseback left, plume behind, no ground below, rev. declaration relig:prot:leg angl:liber:parl in two lines, three Shrewbury plumes and value above, date below, exurgat deus dissipentur inimici (Morr. B-4; JGB 800 (same dies); N.2364; S.2920), an unusually neat and well struck example, slightly off-centre on reverse, otherwise extremely fine, very rare in this condition Estimate £2,500-3,000 provenance:
