George II, Shilling, 6.00g., 1727, young laureate and draped bust facing left, georgivs.ii dei.gratia., toothed border both sides, rev. inverted die axis, crowned cruciform shields, seven strings to Irish harp, Garter Star at centre, rose and plumes in angles, date either side of crown above halved English and Scottish shield, .m.b.f.et. h.rex.f.d.b et.l.d.s.r.i. a.t.et.e., edge, diagonally milled (ESC 1190; S.3698), tiny scratch on cheek, very attractively toned, nearly extremely fine, reverse better though a little flecked Estimate £300-400 provenance Purchased Baldwin 1941 for 10/-
