POSTAL HISTORY England, Scotland and Wales 1864 (29 Aug.) envelope (with original contents), locally addressed in Muirkirk, bearing 1864 1d. plate 89, HA, tied by superb strike of the black intaglio "muirkirk/p.o.", the reverse with Muirkirk c.d.s. of 31 August, the letter being an invitation to a picnic; clean crease crosses adhesive but does not detract.
