Henry V, class D/C mule, Noble, 6.90g., London, king standing facing in ship, holding sword and shield, quatrefoil over sail, mullet and annulet at sword arm, trefoil by shield, broken annulet on side of ship, rev. floriated cross with lis at ends, h in centre, quatrefoil in second quarter, single/double saltire stops, m.m. pierced cross on rev. only (c.f. Schneider 244; N.1371/2; S.1743/2), an attractive portrait coin, almost extremely fine, rare Estimate £ 1,250-1,500 provenance: R C Lockett, Glendining, 17 October 1961, lot 4290 The classification of this piece as a D/C mule, rather than a straight class D, is due solely to the letter P on the reverse. True class D's have Brooke P9 with a sharply cut foot whereas this piece has the intact form Brooke P8. Strangely this coin was identified in the Lockett catalogue as a class F.
