MOnETA BRVXEL' long cross and trio of pellets in angles 1.201g [18.53grns], 6h (Site Reference [L2.D6.1]; Ghyssens p. 12, no. 2; Vanhoudt G248; Witte 307), a pleasing coin and most striking design that undoubtedly would have piqued the curiousity of whomever opted to stash the Hambleden trove, very fine

Evidently struck during the second wave of Crockards to wash upon British shores, the familial ties to the English Royal family were close on account of the matrimony of John III to Margaret (1275-1333), daughter of King Edward I by his first consort Eleanor of Castile.
