Gatehouse: 1843 (10 Feb.) entire to Castle Douglas bearing CE (margins almost touching to large) just tied by a neat strike of the Gatehouse Maltese Cross with void centre, despatch and arrival datestamps are on the reverse; light vertical filing crease. It is thought that only eight examples of the Gatehouse cross with void centre have been recorded. Photo
