(x) Austrian Levant & Ottoman Postal Interaction in Albania (1869-1870)
1870 (Aug. 25). Entire letter from Skopje, Macedonia, to Scutari, bearing pair and single of Turkey 1868 20pa. green (Michel 14A), tied by all Arabic "Uskup 81" double circle (Coles & Walker type 4) in blue on dispatch, showing above a very fine "scutari d'albanie" small thimble c.d.s. in blue (Tchilinghirian type 1). Some edge imperfections to cover and ageing along perforations. A rare incoming letter paying only Ottoman postage; as in this case, despite entering the Austrian P.O., the entire carriage of the mail was handled by Ottoman postal couriers.
