Guiseppe Briffa was born in September 1877 and was variously advanced Police Constable in May 1897, Police Sergeant in December 1899, 2nd Class Sergeant in April 1917, 1st Class Sergeant in May 1917, Sub-Inspector of Police in September 1917 and finally made Inspector in August 1921.

He was the most senior - and sole Officer - recipient at the first investiture of the Malta Police L.S. & G.C. Medal from The Governor on Palace Square on 29 March 1922. The awards had appeared in the Malta Gazette on 17 March 1922. Briffa retired in October 1928 and died in May 1952; sold together with copied research including photographs.
