Harry Vidler was born in Molesey, Surrey and later enlisted for service at Kingston-on-Thames. He entered the war in France on 21 August 1915 and there fought for a few years, earning his M.M. in 1917, before he was killed in action on 3 October 1918.
At some stage Vidler was married to a Maltese woman, Maria Guisseppa Calleja, who received his pension and to whom his medals were later sent at 17 Strada Reale, Sliema, Malta. She was noted as a ‘remarried widow’ at the time his medals were sent to her.
Vidler is buried at La Baraque British Cemetery in Bellenglise, France; sold together with copied research including a circa 1917 map of the Somme Offensive, original medal delivery slips, and original photograph of the recipient.
