D. J. Owen was lucky to have survived the costly bombing of the Sir Galahad on 8 June 1982 after she was struck by three bombs from Argentine Skyhawks. The blast and fires cost the lives of 32 of his comrades. It is notable that the Recce Platoon supported 42 Commando’s assault on Mount Harriet during the campaign.
