Howard Hamer Wakeman was born in September 1926 and must have seen service in the final months of the Second World War in North West Europe for his is confirmed as having only been entitled to the above awards as a Trooper with the Life Guards. Having thence served in Palestine, he was released to the Reserve in October 1947 and settled in Heaton, Bolton, Lancashire. Later moving to Formby, Liverpool and becoming a fire loss adjuster, he was fined £50 in November 1958 for driving whilst drunk and knocking a man from his bicycle. Wakeman died in June 1993.
