Sidney Alder enlisted into the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars in April 1915 and spent the entirety of his war in the Egyptian Theatre. He also served with the Corps of Hussars under service number '2892' and latterly the service number '235848'. Alder survived the war, disembodied in July 1919, and according to his Medal Index Card was further entitled to a General Service Medal with a Kurdistan clasp.
