A. J. Marsh served with the 1st Battalion, Devonshire Regiment on all his campaigns. He is numbered 4394 on the casualty roll, however he is the only soldier with that name and number on the medal roll. He is commemorated on the memorial at Exeter Cathedral in Exeter, Devon.
