The Indian Mutiny Medal to Private J. Morrison, 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, who also served with his unit during the Crimea War

Indian Mutiny 1857-58, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Jas. Morrison, 42nd Highlanders), polish residue, light scratches, toning, otherwise very fine

James Morrison served as a Private during the Indian Mutiny with the 42nd (Royal Highlanders) Regiment of Foot under regimental number 2764. He later transferred to the 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot on 1 July 1858.

Morrison also served with his unit during the Crimean War. The London Gazette reported on 26 September 1855 that Drummer James Morrison of the 42nd Foot, number 2764, was wounded slightly on 8 September - this likely would have been during the British attack on the Great Redan during the Siege of Sebastopol in the Crimean War. Morrison appears on the Crimea roll with entitlement to that medal, and his entitlement to the Indian Mutiny medal and clasp is likewise confirmed; sold together with copied medal rolls and London Gazette entry.
