Daguerreotype of an gentleman, c.1850-1891, by William E. Kilburn, arched top, gilt mount, formal portrait of a gentleman with sideburns housed in folding leather case, 'BY APPOINTMENT | MR KILBURN | 234 REGENT STREET' and garter crests in gilt on front cover.

Case in working order, some tarnish about the edges of the portrait, but otherwise very fine.
William Edward Kilburn (1818-1891) was a famous English photographer, noted particularly for his pictures of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. His studio was at 234 Regent's Street, and he was appointed "Photographist to Her Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Albert."
