Andrew Gordon born at Melbourne on 27 June 1950 was a medical student at Melbourne University when he enlisted in the Citizen Military Forces on 18 June 1969. Commissioned Second Lieutenant on 22 May 1972, he was posted to the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps. Advanced to Captain in 1976, he was serving in the 6th Field Ambulance. He was then posted to the Army Reserve on 28 April 1986 with the rank of Major.
