Alan G. H. Stocks was born in 1940. He had a long career with the Territorial Army and completed his career in Command of the Home Service Force, 'E' (Dunkirk) Company (Stocks' Own), 6/7th (Volunteer) Battalion, The Queen's Regiment. He had also served with the 4/5th (Cinque Ports) Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment and the 9th, 5th and 7th (Territorial) Battalions of The Queen's Regiment. A founder member of the 6/7th Battalion, he was tasked with raising the Home Service Force, 'E' (Dunkirk) Company, which took on the name Stocks' Own. He was presented with the 2nd Clasp for his E.D. by the Duchess of Norfolk, Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex and a silver Armada dish from Lieutenant-Colonel John Salmon upon his dining out on 13 January 1990. Stocks died in November 2019; sold together with named box of issue and riband bars for his award, besides South Devon Lodge 1939-45 War Service Medal, silver, the reverse named to his father 'H. S. Stocks'.
