Wilfred Ashworth served with the 1st Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers throughout the Great War. After he was awarded the M.M. and bar, he transferred to the 2/6th Lancashire Fusiliers under the same service number, and to the 2nd Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers under the new service number 70361. There are only 55 Second Award Bar M.M.s to the Lancashire Fusiliers and only 7 to the 1st Battalion.

Sold with a small certificate of acknowledgement from the commander of the 29th Division recognising his gallant conduct on 14 October 1915 near Ledeghem and copied research.
