M.M. London Gazette 13 June 1919.

George Robert Baillie was born at Govan, Glasgow in 1894 and educated at Shawlands Academy. Entering the war at some stage after 1916 with the 286 Brigade, Royal Field Artillery he was seriously wounded in action. The unit was involved in breaching the Hindenburg Line on 26 September 1918 and the next month in the Capture of Cambrai. Baillie died on 30 October 1918 in the Gravesend Military Hospital, this date suggesting his injuries occurred during the operations earlier in the month. Very likely his award was won for actions during the previous two months. He is commemorated upon the Queen's Park Memorial however he is not one of the twenty known players listed there, likely being either a relative of a footballer or a club member. Baillie is buried in the Gravesend Cemetery; sold together with copied research.
