William Joseph Wynne was born in 1914 and lived at Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted at Derby on 30 April 1935 and served in Jamaica before he served with the 1st Battalion in Palestine. He was to serve in the Western Desert and was reported as Missing on 6 June 1942 but was taken P.O.W. (No.28091) and was sent to Stalag 3A at Luckenwalde. He was repatriated in 1945 and was discharged to Section "B" Reserve on 9 March 1946 and to "Z" Reserve on 30 April 1947. He died on 15 September 1967.

Sold with box for the G.S.M. and box and slip for the Second World War Medals addressed to him at 27 North Street, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottingham.
