The campaign group of three awarded to Sergeant N. H. Pullan, Federation of Malaya Police, late Palestine Police, who was killed in action at Batu Berendam, Pahang on 26 May 1949

Norman Hardisty Pullan was a native of Leeds, who served some 10 years in the Palestine Police (Medal & 2 clasps, Defence and War Medals). He thence volunteered to join the Federation of Malaya Police in August 1948. Pullan shared in a two-week operation in collaboration with a Guards unit which began on 10 May, with the intention of opening up a '...isolated and bandit-infested area' (Straights Times, 30 May 1949, refers). They saw heavy action and killed 4 bandits, including an Officer who wore three stars of rank on his tunic. Pullan was however to be killed in action in the contact at Batu Berendam, Pahang on 26 May 1949.
