George Thorn was born in Lamington, Hampshire on 4 November 1884, the son of John and Verena Thorn of Bibury, Gloucestershire. He was living at Niagara Falls, Ontario when the war began and attested for service with the 58th (Central Ontario) Battalion, Canadian Infantry at Niagara Falls on 26 January 1915. They saw heavy fighting on the Somme with Thorn being killed in action after the offensive ended on 19 December 1916; sold together with copied research and a C.D. of additional research.
