Rupert Charles Chandler was born at Brasted, Kent in 1884 and was a Draper and Outfitter before he attested into the General Service Corps on 11 December 1915 and was placed on the Reserve on 12 December 1915. Chandler was attested to the Tank Corps at Guildford on 23 August 1918 and joined the B.E.F. on 2 October 1918 and returned Home on 13 February 1919. He was Demobilized Class "Z" on 13 March 1919 at Wimbledon and is entitled to a British War and Victory Medal Pair only. He lived at Paris House, High Street, Lingfield, Surrey.
