Jacob Smith was born at Durham on 14 January 1898 and enlisted at South Shields on 4 December 1915 2/9th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Entering the war in France on 8 June 1917 he suffered a gunshot wound to the right hand on 9 September 1917.
His Medical Report notes a fracture of the 4th and 5th fingers which resulted in a total loss of grip strength in that hand. Posted back to Britain on 17 October 1917 Smith was discharged on 27 March 1918. He died in December 1976; Sold together with an original silver war badge (57260) and a discharge certificate.
Albert George Reeder enlisted on 17 January 1917 and was discharged on 19 September 1918 as a result of sickness; sold together with copied research, a photograph of the recipient and a letter from his son relating to the photograph.
Reginald Coupland Sharpe enlisted on 4 October 1915 and entered the war in France on 8 May 1916. Suffering a gunshot wound to the hand on 1 July 1916 he returned to Britain on 6 July 1916 and discharged on 13 January 1919; sold together with a silver war badge (673159) and a photograph of the recipient wearing the badge.
