Bernard Drew was born on 26 September 1892, and was educated at Charterhouse School. He entered the war on 15 October 1914 serving as a Volunteer Driver with Unit No.1 Motor Ambulance BRCS. He was commissioned Temporary Second Lieutenant London Gazette 8 February 1915 and was promoted Lieutenant in 1916. He is entitled to a Silver War Badge (Certificate No.158578), and his medals were sent to him at 18 Cornwall Terrace, Regent's Park, London. He served as secretary of the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club later in his civilian career and also worked at the Stock Exchange.
