Charles Francis Hepburne-Scott was born on 18 August 1874, and was the fifth son of Baron Palworth. He was educated at Trinity College and served with the Imperial Yeomanry during the Second Boer War. He entered the war in France on 29 December 1917 serving with the Scottish Horse and was attached to both the Scottish Rifles and Royal Highlanders. He appeared as eligible for a Silver War Badge on 10 December 1918 (Ref; G/SctH./1198) and at the time was living at 3 Abbotsford Park, Edinburgh. He applied for his medals in February 1923 and they were sent to him at Littledean, North Berwick, East Lothian. He died on 30 October 1956.
