Canadian Memorial Cross, G.V.R. (8498 Pte A. J. Simons), in case of issue, good very fine

Arthur John Simons was born at Kingston, Somerset on 3 May 1896 and was the son of Henry Simons, of the Commercial Inn, East Combe, Taunton, England. He enlisted into the Canadian Army at Valcartier Camp, Quebec on 22 September 1914 and sailed to the U.K. on 3 October 1914. He was reported as 'Missing' on 22 April 1915 and was later presumed to have died whilst serving with the 2nd Battalion and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
