A British War Medal 1914-20 awarded to Second Lieutenant F. S. J. Adams, Machine Gun Corps, who was awarded a Military Cross for his bravery on the Western Front

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During a counter-attack he took his section forward through a heavy barrage, and in spite of casualties got his guns into position at a critical stage in the operations. Throughout he kept in close touch with the infantry, and carried out several valuable reconnaissances as the operations developed.

Francis Stanley Joseph Adams was born on 23 October 1887 and at one time lived at 19 Blomfield Road, Hammersmith, London. He entered the war in France on 1 July 1917 and suffered with a leg fracture resulting in 35 days of medical treatment, he returned to duty on 27 January 1918. He is entitled to a British War and Victory Medal Pair.
