Angus John McFazdean - or Sandy to his friends and comrades - was born circa 1978 in Scotland, grew up in North Wales was educated at Cambridge University. He took a BA and MA in Natural Sciences whilst there, being a member of the University OTC and Amateur Boxing Club.

Commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in February 2002, he first saw active service in Iraq during Op Telic 6 from May-October 2005, serving in 3 Platoon, 'A' Company. Being promoted Captain on 9 February 2006, he was transferred from 3PARA to the Intelligence Corps on 6 March 2006 and retired in 2007, joining Morgan Stanley. Later working for Deloitte and Credit Suisse, he has been married to Minister of State for the Cabinet Office Chloe Smith since 2013, she served as the Member of Parliament for Norwich North from 2009-24 and was Former Economic Secretary to the Treasury.

Sold together with named box of issue for Iraq Medal and four letters related to his career.
