Barry James Billing was born at Melbourne, Victoria in Australia on 27 July 1945. He entered the Royal Australian Corps of Signals and was posted to 110 Signal Squadron on 16 April 1967. A few months later on 1 August, Billing was transferred to 704 Signal Troop but was to return to 110 Signal Squadron on 29 November. He remained with them for the rest of his time in the service, which came to an end on 1 May 1971.
