Ernest Turner enlisted with the Royal Artillery on 22 April 1947. He served without incident for a little over a year before he deserted on 14 March 1948, rejoining a few months later on 10 June. On that day he was reportedly posted to 49 Anti-Tank Regiment, with whom he served for a couple of years before joining 42 Regiment on 10 February 1950. Turner joined the British Army of the Rhine on 13 March 1950 and then 34 Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Hong Kong on 17 April. He served in a number of Anti-Tank and Light Anti-Aircraft Regiments, the last of which was 42 Light Anti-Aircraft Battery in Korea on 1 November 1951. Turner joined the Field Artillery on 2 December 1952 and was discharged to the Reserve on 28 January 1953; sold together with copied tracer cards.
